6 Day trip
To Malvern and Back

Our next trip starts on the 22nd September and although this is a longer trip than our most recent trip it is not as long as most of our other trips. I suppose there is one good thing about that for anyone reading it, as it won't be a long read. The planned route is as usual is subject to change while we are on route but at the moment the trip will take us to Telford, Kidderminster, Malvern, Ludlow and a probably a few more places one the way there and back. We will keep you updated and let you know why this 6 day trip started, its safe to say that it has got something to do with me not reading things properly, Doh!

Ok I suppose the first thing to do after writing your blog is to publish the thing otherwise there is not much point in writing it in the first place, well lets not get into the hey what happened I am just going to put it down to being daft. Anyway although its not good way to attract new readers we can't go back in time unless your name is Doc or Marty its here now and you can read it all in one go what more can I say.

Shortest Trip Ever ?

This trip starts on the 15th September 2023 and is probably our shortest trip away, we are heading a whole 19 miles across well under the River Mersey to the Wirral peninsula for a Caravan and Motorhome Club Rally. We are going with relatives in three  camper vans of the same make and colour and as with other rallies we have attended we plan to arrive in convoy just to confuse the rally organisers when we book in and they see the 3 vans arrive in together. Yes I know it is childish but hey it does make me smile and who wouldn't like to be that young again, these rallies are very cheap to attend, you meet some different and interesting people, there is usually some form of activity, no not that type, this rallies activity is to make a savoury or sweet dish in your van and then take it to a blind tasting and see if you win a prize. I can say that I definitely will not win any prize of any kind as I will not be entering, we will probably have a walk to an establishment that sells food and possibly a refreshment to compliment it, otherwise known as a pub.

As this is such a short trip I don't think that it justifies a full blog, well that is unless there is something that is worth letting you know about like last time we attend one of these rallies due to the none stop rain and the completely swamped field Gloria had to leave the field in a very undignified manner at the end of a rope behind a tractor, first time for everything.

We are off on a longer trip which will start on the 22nd September and that one will have a blog to keep you up with the journey and the places we visit, this time we do have a rough plan but as usual that could change.

Scotland 2023

As usual with one of our trips there is a plan not much of one but it is a plan and plans can be changed. Here is the outline of our plan so far, we depart Liverpool on the 10th July and head north for Scotland towards Glencoe a place that we love, you will see by our previous blogs that we have visited Scotland a number of times actually more times than we have blogs, the scenery is simply stunning and we never get tired of the awe-inspiring views.

The week prior to our departure we have been checking the weather forecast to try and decide if Scotland is the route to travel or should we head off somewhere that might be a bit less wet but after looking at various places the forecast does not look much better, we may have had the hottest June but so far I think we have had the wettest July. After much deliberation we decide to head North and worry about the weather when we get there, if nothing else the rain will keep the midges away.

Welcome to our 2021 Scotland road trip.

This is another Scotland road trip, the first stop is the Lake District which is another place we love and we have been going there since our teens, this time it is to be spent with our grown up children and their partners then after at weekend together we head further north and then North East to Aberdeen with a few stops in between well 41 pages of stops, we hope you enjoy reading about the trip.

Welcome to our 2020 Scotland road trip.

This trip will see us travel to the Isle of Mull, obviously it is not as straight forward as driving to mull and then returning home, it includes lots of stops on the way, including a trip on the Harry Potter Express and a fair few stops on the way. It would not be a road trip if it just a there and back.

Motenegro 2020
"Montenegro Or Bust It's A Right Royal Flush"

As you can imagine this trip includes traveling through 12 Countries over a period of 42 days and clocking up just under 4,000miles, it evens see's us go on a Croatian cruise which was not on our agenda when we left home. It was a totally on the spare of the moment booking after some bartering from a beach bar in Croatia on a Wednesday afternoon to us being on board  the "MS President" on the Friday evening. With such a late booking it was tremendous value and we met some incredible people had a fanatic time together and one day we will meet up again, they do live in New Zealand and America so its not exactly short trips. There is a little bit of a James Bond connection in the title.

USA 2017

This trip will see us drive across America, from Chicago to Vancouver in Canada covering 3,300 miles through 11 states in a Brand New 25 foot Thor Motor Coach, which cost us $1 a day to hire, yes you did read right 1 Dollar a day. I think I mention in the blog how we do this at such a ridiculously low price if not email me and I will let you into the secret, there is no catch and we have used this $1 a day transport probably a dozen times inAmerica, New Zealand and Australia it is a great way of traveling.

Italy 2016
"Del Lavoro Italian Di Galo"
( Glo's Italian Job)

This trip will take us through a few countries with stops along the way before we arrive in Italy and then we will travel down the East coast to the heal of Italy and the return trip we will travel up the west cost. We will have an extra companion with us tis time as we have decided to take Sonic our scooter with us attached to Gloria's tow bar. This seemed a good idea before we left home but after dragging his across Europe I would be surprised if he did 20 miles, he won't be coming again.

Netherlands 2015
"The Hawks Go Dutch"

This time we are not heading down the wonderful M6 ( gosh I hate that motorway ) towards Dover, we are having a change of route and travelling over to Hull to catch an overnight ferry to Rotterdam which cuts the driving mileage considerably and the ferry was very reasonable compare of the fuel costs the other route, plus the fact Barb said that I have never taken her on a cruise. Although we have called this our Netherlands trip we also carry on to Denmark, well it be rude not to has we had heard that Copenhagen is wonderful wonderful.

Trip Of A Lifetime 2013-2014

Right you will need a couple of cups of tea or possibly something a bit stronger to read this rascal, it see's us travel to the other side of the world, Travel though lots and lots of time zones, be away from home for over 5 months, drive over 18,000 miles, fly a lot more and walked lots and lots, we camped in Ted the tent in temperatures reaching 47° Celsius , now being a northern lad that was hot. We met some fantastic people on this trip we were shown some fantastic hospitality, missed home, family and friends and also had a fantastic time. As for the cups of tea, beer or something stronger you may decide to have while reading this one, be careful as it is defiantly a marathon not a sprint as it contains just under 92,000 words, not sure if that qualifies as a novel. If you get to the end we hope you enjoy it, in places it will bring a smile to your face. I would love to hear your thoughts on this one so an email would be great.

Scotland 2013

We are off to Scotland again, why you may ask and our answer would be because we love it, if you have never been you really do not know what you are missing the scenery is spectacular, you have got visit you will regret it if you don't, I wonder if I could get a job for the Scottish tourist board. During the trip we travel up to Ullapool a lovely little town with a butcher selling his gold award winning Black Pudding and he is not too pleased when some scouser who dose not notice the large number of awards adoring the walls of establishment asks "have you got any Stornaway back pudding" now that was an oops moment.

France 2012
Allo Allo Glu

This trip will see us travel through France and indulge in some history we visit Bayeux and its tapestry, visit the very moving and thought provoking war grave memorials. Travel onto Bordeaux indulge in some wine tasting, well it would be rude not to and Margaux is my favourite red wine. We then travel to Switzerland and then on to Germany to visit relatives. on route we do encounter some of Fiats "Fix it again tomorrow" issues but once rectified we continue our journey.

Thailand 2010

Due to the distance involved this is not a road trip its a flight trip and we haven't really roughed it on this trip. When I say its not a road trip we did hire, without having my driving licence with me a Suzuki Jeep now was interesting as was driving in Thailand. When I said that we hadn't roughed it what I actually meant was that it was exactly the opposite, being a I like to rough it type I do get a bit embarrassed when your room comes with your own butler. I am just not happy with indulgence if that is the correct word I am looking for.
